Cynthia Lima offers nearly 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, specializing in strategic communications, executive coaching, and message development/training. Her unique background enables her to provide comprehensive public relations and public affairs counsel to clients worldwide.
Ms. Lima was a senior vice president with the international communications firm of Fleishman-Hillard (FH). As a leading counselor, and co-chair of the firm’s Global Security Practice, Ms. Lima successfully guided clients on matters related to corporate affairs and reputation management, government relations, health care, and defense.
Ms. Lima is a leading executive speaking coach and media trainer. She has worked with senior U.S. government officials, foreign government officials, Fortune 100 executives, national association CEOs, and senior law enforcement. She has prepared clients to testify before congressional committees, to brief boards of directors, to address major conferences, and to participate in top-tier press interviews.
Prior to joining FH, Ms. Lima was a senate confirmed, presidential appointee serving as the Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs. Her responsibilities included guiding all external and internal communications policies for the second largest department in the federal government, providing management oversight for nearly 300 public affairs specialists nationwide, and serving as a strategic counselor to two cabinet secretaries.
Ms. Lima also served as the deputy press secretary to former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell. She provided strategic counsel regarding the secretary’s media portfolio, served as his primary press briefer, managed the Department of State’s traveling press corps, and supervised international press centers.
Ms. Lima began her professional career as a broadcast journalist. She was an award-winning local news anchor, a freelance national correspondent for NBC, and an accomplished documentary writer and reporter.
